Rule #2 - Treat Yourself Like Someone You Are Responsible for Helping
To treat yourself as if you were someone you are responsible for is, instead, to consider what would be truly good for you. This is "not what you want." It is also not "what makes you happy" - Jordan Peterson
Yesterday I have started testing a piece of work that would take roughly 2 weeks of manual testing for one person (ouch!). These tests have not been covered by automation yet so they have to be done manually. The testing will be split between 2 people so they get released early next week (assuming testing goes well).
This type of testing requires focus and discipline. In my previous post, I discussed testing time blocks. I test for around 30-40 minutes and take a 5 minute walk around the building, get some water, and then get back at it. I managed to finish more testing that I anticipated, great news!
I had to be sure that I wasn't interrupted so testing does not get delayed. Testers who don’protect their time don’t get their testing done because they are frequently interrupted with unexpected questions, queries, and perhaps meeting that does not require them.
