Automation for immediate impact
In this week, there's been some downtime on manual execution of testing as the developers are working on more infrastructure changes that will not be "Ready for Testing" in the next week or so. This means that there is now more time to automate more tests that will increase the rate of getting information about the system for the next big release!
So now I ask myself, What can I automate to improve the rate for the next release?
Here is how I decide what's priority to automate:
- List down things I have to automate
- Rank them based on my current mission (Critical, High, Medium, Low)
- Sit down with the product manager to ensure that priorities are aligned
Once you have sat down with your manager, you will now have a list of things that you can do in order. I try to sit down next to the developers and tell them about the design of my automation to ensure that what I'm about to do is correct and following good principles.
Let's see how much automation I can get done in the next few days!
